Gaui EP550 Hurricane
The EP550 Hurricane bought 27 September, 2009 is 80% assembled (air frame complete with head installed),
complete with 850kv brushless motor, 50A/25V ESC, external 3Amp BEC and 525mm wooden blades. The kit I bought is the plastic airframe version. You need to complete the building of
the kit and install all your own electronics (cyclic and tail servos, gyro, receiver and transmitter) set the
head, gyro and program the transmitter.
I had a problem with the stock ESC not initialising. Went back to the hobby shop I purchased this kit from. ESC worked fine.
On returning home I repowered the heli up and still could not get the ESC to initialise, blowing the stock external BEC in the process. I used and tested the circuit with two
other ESC's and my own UBEC and had no problems. Therefore I am only using the stock 850kv motor in this setup.
The pic above is the colour I had originaly painted the heli in but messed it all up when applying a clear coat. In the mean time the heli is painted two tone yellow/orange. I will be returnig the heli
back to the flouro green once all is complete. It does look so much better.
I decided to have a second attempt and reconnected the stock ESC once I had all componants working and the ESC has decided to work. On saying this I am using the Turnigy Plush 60amp ESC in my final setup.
